Friends, it’s Holy Saturday and the final day of Lent. As we reach the end of our 40 day journey, I invite you to take some time to reflect on how this experience has been for you. Forget questioning whether you did it “right” and ask yourself one or two of these questions instead:
When I look back on the past 40 days, what do I remember?
Was there a particular passage that stood out to me? What was it about this passage that moved me?
Did I gain any insight or fresh understanding through reading Buechner’s words or reflecting on them?
What am I taking with me from this experience?
It is, of course, up to you how you reflect. You may like to journal in response to these questions or take them on a walk with you, pondering them as you go. Alternatively, you could simply sit with them and notice what they bring up in you. Whatever approach you take, I encourage you to leave some listening space for whatever may want to drift up from that holy place within.
One of the gifts of this journey for me, personally, has been reading The Remarkable Ordinary slowly and in community with you and the many others who have joined us. I have loved reading your comments and notes in the group’s chat. To mark the end of our time together, I have started a new thread in the chat and as part of your reflection process you may like to share something about your experience there.
I will be writing to you one last time, next week. Until then…
May the deep silence of Holy Saturday still your soul and offer a space for you to be with all that is unfinished - in your life and in the world.
Thank you, Jen, for this thoughtful and inspiring journey. I so appreciate all that you put into this. I’m curious, what prompted you to embark on this project?
